Ralph Turnbull (b.1788 - d.1865): Ralph Turnbull was the most recognised of all the Jamaican furniture makers of the nineteenth century. He created a style that utilised indigenous woods of Jamaica with dramatic effect, and he is credited with the development of the genre of furniture that is synonymous with colonial Jamaica.
We are grateful to Dr. John Cross for confirming the attribution to the workshop of Ralph Turnbull.
