The rectangular top with a double ratchet mechanism, the molded edge with flower heads, over a fitted drawer, the beaded face giving the appearance of three drawers, opening to reveal a green baize-lined writing surface over twelve compartments and secret compartments, the lids with ebony edging and each decorated with etched and inked inset wood labels each bearing two letters of the alphabet (omitting J and U), and with a shaped brass handle, above a kneehole with a single door cabinet flanked each side by three drawers with key escutcheons and brass handles, on a plinth carved with egg-and-dart decoration. Bears a the label of J.H. Gillingham to interior of top left drawer.
