Of notable large scale, the rectangular seat on acanthus-carved cabriole legs. The design of the leg suggests an interesting transition in furniture design with the combination of a carved ‘hairy paw’ foot, which was fashionable in the 1740-50s, to the shaped cabriole leg illustrating the French influence of the 1760s. The crisp carving includes, unusually, an acanthus leaf positioned above the hairy paw foot.
